Making a Choice
A poem about being at a crossroad
What if you also trip or fall?
What if it’s not your way at all?
So many voices out and in
There is a battle deep within
One tells you: Go where you belong
In this case there’s no right or wrong
Another adds: But let me point
At all of those you’ll dissapoint
The third one doesn’t say a word
Which can be just as sharp as sword
You know if everything falls through
It’ll mock and tell you “I warned you”
The safer path is there you see?
That’s where they all want you to be
More voices suddenly appear
The first one you can barely hear
Frustration, doubts and fear align
They glare, send shivers down your spine
They’re reaching, creeping, cold as stone
You’re scared, you scream :”LEAVE ME ALONE!”
You back away, you’re struck by fear
And in this abyss all you hear
Their chilling laugh at your demise
You shut your ears and close your eyes
And helpless, cornerder by this slender
You’re almost ready to surrender
“They must be right. I will just do…what everyone wants me to…”
“STOP!” A voice you hear
It makes the darkness dissapear
It pulls you up and there you see
Yourself.. But wait, how can this be?
And eye-to-eye, while smiling too
This person tells you:
“Just be you. Do what you love, keep working hard.
Some failures will make you smart.
You’ll hurt, you’ll fall, but raise again
Some things you’ll lose, but others gain.
Believe that you have strength in you.”
A pause… “It’s fine. I’m here. And I love you”
